According to Give Me Sport, during Liverpool versus Manchester City, pundit Martin Tyler joked that Gareth Southgate had some team clinging to do as England teammates conflicted at Anfield.

Sterling faced both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Gomez during Liverpool’s 3-1 win against City.

As the squad got together in front of qualifiers against Montenegro and Kosovo, Sterling conflicted with Gomez.

The Daily Mail reported that the City man responded forcefully in the wake of being welcomed by Gomez in the players’ flask as they landed at St George’s Park.

Gomez moved toward Sterling, who was sitting down in the canteen, from behind and leaned over to shake his hand.

In any case, the previous Liverpool player responded by endeavoring to snatch him by the neck.

The rest of the squad thought that Sterling was kidding. However, it soon became evident that the pair should have been isolated.

In the interim, the Telegraph expresses that Sterling pointed angrily at Gomez, inquiring as to whether despite everything he thought he was the “big man” and got into the 22-year-old’s face, attempting to draw a response.

Sterling has now stood in opposition to the episode with a post on Instagram.

Both Joe and I have had words and figured things out and moved on. – We are in a sport where emotions run high and I am man enough to admit when emotions got the better of me.

“We move this is why we play this sport because of our love for it – me and @joegomez5 are good we both understand it was a 5-10 second thing it’s done we move forward and not make this bigger than it is.

“Let’s get focus on our game on Thursday.”
