Catch these five Barca stars in action during international break

Plenty of mouth-watering action will be served up over the international break, with a medley of Barcelona players set to feature for their respective national sides during this time.

Not all the players in the Spanish outfit’s ranks, will count themselves among these. This, as plenty of these stars will be staying at the Camp Nou, either due to injury or suspension.

Notably, Lionel Messi is currently serving a three-month suspension and must pay a fine of $50 000 for publicly criticizing the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) during the Copa América.

Luis Suarez is set to stay behind for treatment, while Samuel Umtiti, Jordi Alba, Junior Firpo, Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati have all been left out due to injury concerns.

All of this means that only 10 of Barcelona’s first-team squad are away, with the remaining players set to train today and tomorrow before enjoying a few days off.

Ivan Rakitic – Croatia

Ivan Rakitic has struggled for game time at Barcelona this season and missed Croatia’s most recent fixtures as he was inundated in talks over his future at the club, according to Barca Blaugranes. However, he is back for their games against Hungary and Wales, with the 2018 World Cup finalists bracing for their match against Hungary in Split in Euro 2020 qualifying on Thursday, October 10, before heading to Wales for that fixture on Sunday, October 13.

Arturo Vidal – Chile

Arturo Vidal is another midfielder whose contribution at Barca this season, has set wind on a healthy run for the club in all competitions. The Chilean is set to take on Colombia and Guinea in friendlies. Both these games are scheduled to take place in Alicante at Hercules’ Estadio José Rico Pérez ground on October 12 and 15.

Sergio Busquets – Spain

Sergio Busquets is the only Barcelona player to be called into Spain’s international-friendlies squad. La Roja play Norway on Saturday, October 12 in Oslo in a Euro 2020 qualifier, and then head to Sweden for their second match in Group F on Tuesday, October 15. Spain has won all six of its qualifiers, so far, to top the group from Sweden by seven points.

Frenkie de Jong – Netherlands

Frenkie de Jong’s Netherlands side have still some work to do in qualifying. The Dutch are behind Germany and Northern Ireland in Group C, with only a game in hand over both teams. Netherlands host Northern Ireland in a crucial game on Thursday, October 10 before tackling Belarus in their second qualifier of the break on Sunday, October13.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen – Germany

There has been plenty of talk about whether Marc-Andre ter Stegen or Manuel Neuer should be Germany’s number one. Both shot stoppers will get a chance to play for the team currently top of Group C. The coach has confirmed Ter Stegen will take on Argentina in a friendly on Wednesday, October 9 in Dortmund, while Neuer will be back between the sticks for the Euro 2020 qualifier against Estonia on Sunday, October 13.
