Bafana romp to 6-0 win in practice match

With the confirmed friendly international against Madagascar lying in wait, Bafana Bafana have already got their preparations off on a good note.

Molefi Ntseki’s charges were temporarily dealt a blow after Zambia, who were intially scheduled for the friendly, pulled out of the match due to reported Xenophobic attacks that has gripped South Africa in the past few days.

The Zambian Football Association released a statement late on Thursday night confirming they would no longer be honouring the friendly invitation.

SAFA were left scratching their heads but simultaneously took swift action by confirming 2019 African Cup of Nations participants Madagascar as their next opponents, replacing Chipolopolo.

Bafana took part in a practice match on Wednesday afternoon, hammering Glad Africa Championship outfit Moroka Swallows 6-0 at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

Five different players got on the scoresheet. Bongani Zungu, Dean Furman, a brace from Kermit Erasmus and solitary strikes from Thembinkosi Lorch and Thulani Serero ensured the win for Ntseki’s team.

The friendly international against the islanders will be staged at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, September 7, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00.
