The first-leg semi-final ties of the MTN8 competition got underway this past weekend, with no teams being able to register victories, as both matches ended all-square.
Polokwane City 0-0 Highlands Park
Highlands Park held Polokwane City to a goalless draw in the first leg semi-final tie on Saturday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
It was a rather dull affair on Saturday afternoon as both sides failed to create clear-cut chances as the tie ended in a share of the spoils.
The second leg will take place at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on Wednesday, September 18.
SuperSport United 1-1 Mamelodi Sundowns
Both Tshwane giants played out to an entertaining 1-1 stalemate at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
With the sides having met in the league this season already, as Sundowns ran out 2-0 victors on the opening day of the season, it was time to renew their rivalry once again.
Both goals came towards the end of the first half as Thamsanqa Gabuza opened the scoring for Matsatsantsa a Pitori with a beautiful header on 41 minutes but Sundowns hit back immediately through Gaston Sirino just two minutes after.
As the tie progressed, neither side could find the winner as they settled for a draw a piece.
