SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo has admitted that they are yet to conclude their transfer dealings, as they are looking to add two more players to their ranks.
The transfer window is set to close by the end of August with most teams having wrapped up theirs, however Matsatsantsa a Pitori are still on the lookout for two more players, with free agent Thabo Qalinge and Lucky Mohomi still under their radar.
Tembo confirmed the team’s lack of attack and defence, and that the last two weeks of the transfer window will be for closing those gaps.
“As you know, the window is still open and we’re still looking to beef up our squad in certain areas up front and also defensively. We’re a little bit thin, like now we’re already missing Aubrey, which makes it a little bit difficult for us in terms of having depth and quality,” said Tembo, as quoted by KickOff.com.
“Some of the youngsters we have are also there as squad members to gain a little bit of experience – Khanyisile Mayo is registered and trains with the first team but he’ll play mostly in the MDC this season because this is his final chance to play there.
“The same goes for Jesse Don as well, he’s also 19-years-old – a first team player but will play most of his matches at MDC level because we want them to play regularly.
“So, we’re a little bit thin as a squad in terms of depth and quality, and we’re still going to do a little bit of business before the window closes, ” he added.
When quizzed about former Pirates winger Qalinge, who was said to be under observations, Tembo preferred not to divulge too much.
“We’ll make an announcement on Thabo Qalinge when the time is right. There are still a couple of deals in the pipeline and I don’t want to pre-empt everything before the deals are concluded, ” concluded Tembo.
Matsatsantsa welcome the Buccaneers to Mbombela Stadium for their Absa Premiership encounter on Wednesday evening, as they go in search of their first maximum points of the new campaign.
