Will Zandile Gumede’s supporters accept her sacking?

The African National Congress (ANC) in Kwa-Zulu Natal is expected to announce the sacking of eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede.

The ANC will announce it’s Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) resolutions this afternoon at the party’s headquarters in Durban.

The ruling party’s PEC is expected to formally relieve Gumede from her mayoral duties.

Gumede has been on extended leave since May, as she is facing corruption, fraud and racketeering charges resulting over the multimillion tender in the city.

It remains to be seen whether Gumede’s supporters will accept the PEC decision to sack her.

Gumede has been enjoying massive support from the ANC supporters and from other PEC members since she was suspended from her post.
