Matsatsantsa a Pitori lost their opening league fixture in the Tshwane Derby, going down 2-0 to arch-rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, and have another mountain to climb when they take on the Buccaneers in their mid-week fixture at Mbombela Stadium.

After hosting the Sea Robbers, Kaitano Tembo’s charges face two other sides deemed as possible title-contenders, in the next three weeks of August.

They take the short away trip to Braamfontein for an MTN8 quarter-final date with Bidvest Wits, before taking on high-flying Kaizer Chiefs in a league tie at FNB Stadium on August 24.

Despite being faced with all these taxing fixtures, the midfielder refused to succumb to the weighing pressure facing the team in the opening campaign.

“We can’t really complain about the fixtures because that’s what they’ve given us, we just have to plan accordingly because we’re playing three different teams,” Modiba told Kickoff.com.

“Even though they are three big teams, they play differently, and we just have to plan accordingly. But it will be a tough task. “Pirates won their first game, so I think their confidence is high, but we’re going to put up a fight.”

“It’s really disappointing actually, to get injured in the first game, because I really had high ambitions for this season – I wanted to do well and continue helping the team as much as I can.”

“But I just have to be positive and make sure that I recover as quickly as possible, work on my rehabilitation and make sure I come back stronger and ready to work again.” he added.

‘Postman’ is likely to miss out on the Bucs clash after being stretchered off the pitch against Sundowns with a hamstring injury, and was subsequently ruled out of contention for the next two weeks by the club’s medical staff.
