SA-born Nigerian youngster’s national team dream fulfilled

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila striker Onyedikachi Ononogbu’s dream to play for South Africa at national team level was fulfilled after his inclusion in David Notoane’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers squad.

The 21-year-old who hails from Ivory Park in Midrand, was born to a Nigerian father and a South African mother.

Ononogbu, who has always desired to feature in South African national colours, will have the chance to impress national selectors when they face Lesotho in the CHAN first-leg qualifiers at Setsotso Stadium on July 28. The return leg will be played in Johannesburg on Sunday, August 4.

The Johannesburg-born youngster already boasts an impressive record at TTM, scoring three goals in six outings.
