Men including the son are being accused of kidnapping and raping the boy. The men allegedly kidnapped the boy as he was walking past them in the street and took him to one of their houses where they shoved a bottle in his anus and rapped him.

The four have appeared three times in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court.

However, Gaironesa Rylands says her son was not in the front line of this incident: “he was not the one making the decisions”.

“I am not denying his part in this, but I know he did not just decide to be part of hurting someone. He told me he was forced and was afraid not to do as told. He was not raised that way.”

The mother says she contacted the family of the victim to clarify that she does not support her son, but she just wants to get to the bottom of this.

The mother of the victims says her son couldn’t walk or sit for so many weeks.

“They burnt papers between his toes,” the traumatised mother told the Daily Voice.

“He told me they said they wanted to have a little fun with him.”

The victim and his mother took the matters to the police station where a case was opened and the police were taken to the houses of the suspects and one of the mothers expressed her sorriness towards what has happened to her son.

“But they are different people at court. They support their children, as if my son did something to them,” the mother says.

The suspects’ bail hearing takes place on 24 July.
