Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Siphiwe Tshabalala is set for an extended stay with his Turkish club Erzurumspor.
‘Shabba’ penned a two-year contract with the Turkish team last season but was limited to just 19 starts, as they lost their top-flight status and got relegated.
Rumours has since been rife that Tshabalala would be making a return back to Mzani ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, however his agent Jazzman Mahlakgane was quick to refute such claims.
“He’s gone back,” Mahlakgane told Soccer Laduma.
“I have been talking to the club president and they want to keep him and we are discussing terms for a new contract for Shabba, “Mahlakgane said.
The 34-year-old is more likely to stay beyond his two years, as the club have an option to extend his current deal.
“The club also has an option to renew it at the end of the season. Obviously, they have been relegated now and they have indicated that they need their best players to stay so that they can return to the first division. To them, Shabba is one of the key players and they want him to stick around,” Mahlakgane concluded.
