Pirates announce arrival of French goalkeeper

Orlando Pirates have confirmed their first goalkeeper signing of the new season, roping in French goalkeeper Joris Delle.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Joris Delle. Delle joins the Mighty Buccaneers on a three year deal,” confirmed the Buccaneers on the club’s official website. 

The 29-year-old international has played in his homeland of Belgium and the Netherlands for 12 years now, and joins Finnish goalkeeper coach Joyri Nieminen whose arrival at the club was also announced on Monday.

Delle will be competing with Wayne Sandilands, Brilliant Khuzwayo and Siyabonga Mpontshane for the club’s number one jersey.

The Buccaneers’ latest signing expressed his feelings following his arrival in South Africa.

“I am glad to join this prestigious football club called Orlando Pirates and starting a new adventure in South Africa. Happy to be part of an ambitious club with amazing fans, who will accompany us on the road of success.

“I think that I will be the first French player to play for the Pirates. I would like also be the first to win titles there. Let’s go for it, it starts by a good pre-season!, ” Delle expressed.
