City to trigger Rodri’s R1.2bn release clause

Manchester City are set to meet Atletico Madrid’s R1.2bn (£70m) release clause for midfielder Rodrigo Hernández.

The champions are looking to bolster their midfielder options and are prepared to offer Atleti a lucrative deal for the Spanish international.

The 22 year old had a stellar career at Wanda Metropolitano this season under Diego Simeone, after moving from Villareal last summer.

According to Caught Offside, the Spanish international made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and help Atletico Madrid to finish as runners up to Barcelona in La Liga this season.

The Citizens are willing to meet Rodri’s R1.2bn (£70 million) release clause, with transfer talks now at an advanced stage. The Atletico player is technically gifted and can dictate the pace of the game in the middle of the park as well as to break up play from the opposition.
