Al Ahly ends chances of Pyramid title

Al Ahly have secured a place in the 2019/20 CAF Champions League and ended Pyramids chances of winning the Egyptian Premier League.

Martin Lasarte’s side have secured their place in the CAF Champions League next season following a tough 2-0 victory against ENPPI on Thursday.

Club-record signing Hussein El-Shahat and striker Marwan Mohsen netted the goals for the Red Devils as they moved to 73 points at the summit of the Egyptian top-flight.   After 31 games played, the victory marked their spot in the final two alongside either Zamalek or Pyramids – while the latter has seen their incredible title chase come to an abrupt halt.   With Nogoom FC and Haras El-Hodood their remaining fixtures, the club formed in 2018 can only reach 72 points if the collect maxium points.

Meanwhile 2019 Confederation Cup finalists Zamalek will need to secure seven points from their remaining five games in order to return to Africa’s elite club competition.
