It’s The First Time And It’s Something Really Amazing Says Gracia

Watford manager Javi Gracia said it’s the first time and it’s something really amazing following English clubs reach finals in Europe this season.

This Sunday sees the Hornets take to the pitch for the last time in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign and could see them finish as high as ninth.

Additionally, the club has reached the FA Cup final for the first time since 1984 and are the only team outside of the top six clubs to reach a cup final this season, in a year that has seen English clubs dominate European football. “It’s the first time and it’s something really amazing,” said Gracia of the fact that every club in both European finals will be from England.

“It’s a massive week for English football something speaks very, very well about English football and the level of the Premier League. “For us in this case, we’re going to play in a final against City – you can see in all these finals teams always situated in the six positions only. “Watford is playing for a title out of this big six and it’s something we have to be proud of.

“I’m proud of my players, I’m proud to belong in this club. It’s not only the position we’re going to finish, it’s not only the final we are going to play. It’s the way we’ve done it. “You can do it different ways. My players, what I can say about them is all of them gave their best and we made a big effort from the beginning of the season.”

Away from on the field achievements, Gracia’s greatest source of pride comes from the backing of the Watford supporters. The head coach wants his players to repay the fans with the best performance of the season on Sunday afternoon at Vicarage Road against West Ham.

He said: “Now, for me, it’s important to feel how proud are the supporters of these players, how proud the supporters are of this team. “This is the success of the season for me. Not only the position or the points we have. “We have the possibility to achieve this trophy, I’m living with pride and enjoying this moment.

“I would like it (the season’s best performance) will be the last one against West Ham, I would like that.  “I like to finish the season at home because always it’s something different, there’s a good moment to enjoy with the supporters and to finish the season together.”
