Gustavo Andrés Páez Martinez is a Venezuelan footballer who plays for Kaizer Chiefs as a forward.
Páez started his senior career playing in lowly club Academia Emeritense. In 2009, he had a short spell with Peruvian Alianza Lima before returning to his home country to play with Zamora FC, in Venezuelan Primera División.
In January 2010 Páez signed with NK Interblock Ljubljana playing in the Slovenian First League; despite being regular at the side, he suffered team relegation at the end of the season. In September 2010 he went to Italy to play for Serie D side A.S. Union Quinto.
In August 2011 Páez moved to Spain, signing with RCD Mallorca and being assigned to the reserves in Segunda División B. After appearing with the Balearics for two seasons, he joined ACD Lara.
On 31 January 2017, it was announced that Paez will sign for South African club Kaizer Chiefs F.C.
Chiefs are set to part ways with Venezuelan striker Gustavo Paez and two midfielders at the end of the season.
Paez joined Amakhosi on a two-and-a-half-year deal in January 2017.
Despite being highly rated by former Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela, the former Real Mallorca youth player has failed to rise to the occasion at Naturena.
Also set to leave the Glamour Boys are midfielders Bhongolwethu Jayiya and Joseph Molangoane, whose contracts with the club are set to expire in June this year.
According to a source close to the club, Chiefs are looking forward to bringing in two foreign players during the next transfer window.
“Paez is leaving,” the source tells KickOff.com.
“The club will finalise the list of all the players leaving at the end of the season. Jayiya and Molangoane are some of the players expected to leave the club at the end of the season.”
Chiefs travel to Limpopo this weekend to play Black Leopards in an Absa Premiership match on Saturday.
