Steve Komphela Resigns With Immediate Effect……

Steve Komphela has reportedly resigned as head coach ofAbsa Premiership outfit Bloemfontein Celtic with immediate effect.

It’s unclear at this stage, however, where the 51-year old former Kaizer Chiefs mentor is headed to, but his likely destination is expected to be revealed soon.

Komphela joined Celtic at the beginning of the current 2018/19 campaign and despite doing well – shaping a team that flirted with relegation last season and turning them into title contenders in the Absa Premiership – the club had financial difficulties that have often stalled their progress.

Siya sources have indicated that Komphela is leaving for “professional” reasons as it is believed that there is an incredible amount of money owed to the coach by Celtic since he joined after leaving Chiefs. It is believed, a sourced suggested, the coach had been contemplating this decision for some time now.

Players at the Free State-based outfit have, on several occasions, gone on strike demanding to be paid – and the owner of the club Max Tshabalala has been looking to sell their PSL status. The club’s financial situation has been a hurdle and it seems as though it could have been the reason for Komphela’s exit.

According to the Soccer Laduma website, the former Kaizer Chiefs mentor has opted to quit the club, which is for sale, as they struggles to find a suitable owner. Siwelele have gone off the boil since their 2-1 victory over Wits on November 10, picking up just point in their last five Premiership fixtures.

And, having reached the halfway mark in the season after a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Cape Town City at the weekend, Celtic find themselves sitting in seventh place with 21 points to their name. However, their poor run of form has not been helped by continued uncertainty over the future of the club.

The Premiership outfit remains up for sale, with club boss Max Tshabalala having failed to agree a deal with businesswoman Sinki Leshabane back in September.
